Last night, I watched “An Inconvenient Truth” again, with a team from Standard Bank, and at the same time used the opportunity to promote the Gondwana Alive cause. During the evening a few folk asked me what they can do to help. I had so much to say, I was inspired to start this initiative. I therefore decided to launch ecobytes on this site.

Al Gore to visit South Africa

Our Gondwana Alive CEO, Alex Anderson, who also serves as Western Cape chairman to the IoD advises that the 4th Annual Business Update Conference of the South African Institute of Directors will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Wednesday 20 June. Former United States Vice President Al Gore will be the keynote speaker at that conference. He will be addressing in particular the imperatives and challenges facing South African industry and commerce so as to ensure sustainable solutions in averting global warming and the destruction of our biodiversity (natural wealth).

Welcome to the new Gondwana Alive web site. For more information on the organisation, please see the new About Us section.

One of the more recent accomplishments that we can report is that the Institute of Directors Sustainability Portfolio Committee has agreed in principle to resuscitate the evvironmental information service (previously provided through the “GreenLeaf” magazine) by integrating with the Gondwana Alive web site. Exact content of this facility will be finalised on completion of the IoD sustainability survey report. This will have particulat ro the IoD fiven the forthcoming visit of Al Gore to the Annual Conference as discussed here.
