The Gondwana Alive project was initiated in 1998 by paleobotanist, Dr John Anderson with the support of a group of scientists and other founding members from various professions. The Gondwana Alive Society was formerly registered as a non-profit Section 21 Company in March 2001.
These early years saw the production of “Towards Gondwana Alive, Vol I (Anderson, J.M. (ed.) 2001. This publication laid the scientific foundation for the Society’s mission to promote biodiversity and stem the Sixth Extinction.
